rotating abscission line mapped at (o) on the (x, y, z) axis (2016)
Rotations in euclidean geometry map. This photographic sculpture combines the mysterious and material process of photography with the mystique of the whitetailed buck's annual shed. I harvested the shed off of the ground in January. The image was made and framed to produce an image that would project backwards into the frame, creating the illusion of both suspension and motion. The line of abscission occurs at (o), in the center of the image, and is the line produced at the base of the antler where the de-mineralized bone has detached from the deer's skull.
